Sony does not release smartphones that frequently these days but the company has not given up on the industry completely. At present, the company is working on the successor to last year’s Xperia 5. The design and specs of the upcoming Xperia 5 II have been revealed, thanks to leaks by Evan Blass and Android Headlines. Sony Xperia 5 II Overview
Design and Display
Today, most of the premium phones come with either a punch-hole cut-out or a notch. Companies are even close to integrating under-display cameras into their devices. However, Sony still opting for traditional bezels.
The side bezels on the Sony Xperia 5 II are actually thin but the same cannot be said for the forehead and chin. The device will sport a 6.1-inch display. It will have a tall aspect ratio of 21:9. The FHD OLED panel will also support HDR contents. Sony has tried to make the smartphone relevant to today’s market by including a 120Hz display. It is the first phone from Sony to come with a higher refresh rate.
On the back, there is a pill-shaped camera bump that houses the triple camera setup. The device will be available in three color options. Interestingly, the device comes with not two but four buttons on the side. One of them is the power key, which will also double as the fingerprint scanner.
Performance and Memory
Sony Xperia 5 II will include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 chipset under its hood. The flagship processor is backed by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Users can expand the storage by slotting in a microSD card. The phone will ship with Android 10 out of the box.
Sony Xperia 5 II will flaunt a triple camera setup on the back. It is expected that the setup will not be different from the setup on the Xperia 1 II that was launched at the beginning of the year. A 12MP sensor (f/1.7) will lead the setup. It will be accompanied by a 12MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom. The third sensor will be an ultra-wide sensor with a FOV of 124-degree. To differentiate it from the Xperia 1 II, Sony has decided not to include the 3D ToF sensor.

If the rumors are true, the extra two buttons on the side of the device will function as shutters. It is speculated that pressing them will open the camera in photo and video mode, respectively. They could also be used for zooming in and zooming out.
Rest of the specs
The device will get its juice from a 4,000mAh battery. There is a capacitive fingerprint sensor on the side of the device for biometrics. The device will come with stereo speakers. Users will not miss out on the 3.5mm headphone jack as well.
